About the Foundation

The John O. Ounjian Foundation was established by Dr. John O. Ounjian as a not-for-profit charitable foundation in New York in 1999. The Foundation is funded by Dr. Ounjian.

The Ounjian Foundation is also registered in Armenia as a non-profit organization with offices located at the Ounjian School in Gyumri.

The primary objectives of the foundation are: (a) promote educational excellence; (b) educational opportunities for disadvantaged students; (c) foster artistic and cultural activities.

The Foundation achieves its objectives by building and maintaining schools, providing merit-based scholarships to students from needy families and providing other resources to schools and cultural organizations.

The Foundation has implemented many of its projects either directly or through other public charities where it needed the additional implementing competence. Dr. Ounjian and the Foundation’s voluntary Board of Directors manage the Foundation’s activities without any paid staff. The Foundations entire resources are used for the projects it implements or sponsors.

The Foundation does not consider unsolicited proposals for funding or grants.
